One of our lucky baby rosy boas had an enclosure build requested by her new family! Here are lots of photos of the build as an example of how pretty a naturalistic snake enclosure can look. Though this girl was small (53 grams) when she went home, I designed this enclosure layout with her adult size in mind.
The details:
Enclosure: 40 gallon front-opening tank 36x18x18" (client provided)
Lights and heating: T8 UVB fixture (client provided), halogen bulb as primary heat, incandescent bulb as supplemental heat and light
Substrate: Custom blend of play sand, coco fiber, fermented flake soil, calcined clay, and leaf litter, with additional sand and warm tone gravel accents on surface
Plants: Ponytail palm, Tradescantia hybrid "Purple Fuzzy," haworthia, earth star
Background: A photo I took in native rosy boa range of southern California
